Member Services Manager

The Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA), a voluntary statewide professional association for attorneys and other law-related professionals, has an opportunity for a Member Services Manager. MSBA sections are primarily focused on substantive areas of law, and members elect to join one or more sections as a way to obtain specialized information and opportunities that are important to their practices.  Member Services Managers work directly with the leadership of those sections to help them achieve their goals.  You will be successful in this position if you are detail-oriented, self-sufficient, calm under pressure, and able to thoughtfully manage competing priorities.

This is a regular full-time non-exempt position (37.5 hours/week).  The Minnesota State Bar Association is an equal opportunity employer.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop positive working relationships with section representatives
  • Provide quality, timely customer service to members
  • Handle all aspects of assigned section meeting planning, including event planning, preparing emails and mailings, posting meeting notices to the MSBA website, registration and responding to the needs of registrants and section leaders(includes meeting creation, marketing, registration, preparation, and closing)
  • Develop processes to ensure success of section initiatives and that proper internal section and accounting procedures are followed
  • Attend and participate as needed in section council meetings
  • Develop successful processes to keep informed of section activities and communicate appropriate information to MSBA staff
  • Assist with coordination of section membership promotions with Marketing Department

Qualifications

  • Excellent customer services skills
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Time and project management experience – ability to calmly manage and complete multiple projects in a timely fashion
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Meeting planning experience a plus
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel,andOutlook
  • Ability to work extra hours and a varied schedule at certain times of the year
  • Ability to travel to meetings, some in greater Minnesota
  • Manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • Work collaboratively and independently

Working Conditions

The person in this position must have the ability to use a computer, photocopier, and telephone. The person is required to sit for long periods, reach with hands and arms, use hands and fingers to grasp and relocate objects, lift up to 15 pounds, and type on a keyboard. In addition, the person must be able to speak clearly, hear conversations spoken at a normal conversational level, and have good vision to see a computer monitor and distinguish the nature of objects. This position requires travel, some in greater Minnesota.
