Placement on salary schedule dependent upon qualifications. Minnesota law specifies that an assistant county attorney has the same duties as the county attorney. This position may entail any and/or all of the statutory duties of the County Attorney’s Office as assigned. The assistant county attorney is responsible for providing legal services and representing the County in a wide variety of civil, criminal or juvenile matters. Duties include providing legal advice and training to county divisions/employees/officials; conducting legal research; evaluating, preparing, and presenting cases in legal proceedings including motions, hearings, trials and appeals; and preparing and drafting findings, legal documents, and/or instruments. Work performed at the direction and under supervision of the Division Chief or County Attorney.
