Director of Membership Retention and Marketing

The Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA) seeks a highly motivated professional to carry out its primary goals of increased membership retention, and marketing MSBA products and services. This position includes an opportunity to move into a leadership position.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing annual comprehensive membership retention plan, which includes stated goals, specific projects, required staff time and resources, and corresponding budget;
  • Managing the development and implementation of integrated marketing campaigns including developing messaging and content plans and creatively executing in a timely and strategic fashion.
  • Developing and implementing plans for marketing key MSBA products and services;
  • Performing or overseeing the design, writing, and printing/e-delivery of retention promotional materials and activities;
  • Tracking, reporting, and analyzing membership-related statistics, including results for membership recruitment and retention efforts using modern analytics-based methods, and;
  • Maintaining and mining membership data.
  • Responding to member and nonmember requests, and providing excellent customer service in person, on the phone and in electronic communications. Collaborating with the membership team to holistically plan and implement all efforts;
  • Promoting the culture of membership internally and externally;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or marketing (MBA a plus)
  • Five years of association management or equivalent experience
  • Strong oral and written (including copywriting) communication skills
  • Competence in transitioning from detail-oriented tasks to seeing the bigger picture
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and database structures, data reporting, research, and analysis
  • Ability to thrive in the fast-paced, ever-changing and at times, stressful, environment
  • Excellent work ethic
  • Excellent organizational skills—must be able to manage multiple projects at once
