Changes ahead for mndocs tool

Document assembly tools like the MSBA’s mndocs product can reduce drafting time for legal documents by up to 95 percent. In early 2015 the MSBA introduced a big change to its document assembly product, moving it from a Windows-only product to a secure cloud-based system that can be accessed anywhere, anytime, and on any device. Since that time we have worked with member volunteers, outside experts, and developers to update and expand our content. mndocs now boasts over 500 templates in several practice areas.

So what’s next? Soon we’ll be offering specialized versions of mndocs with focused form libraries. These practice area-specific products should make document assembly a more affordable option for more of our members.

We will continue to offer a complete package of all of our document assembly forms in a rebranded product, mndocs Complete, so if you like the flexibility and reuse offered by a full set of templates, we’ve got you covered. But we know that the practice of law is changing too, and lawyers face increased competition.

In the past year we have focused on adding or updating forms related to specific transactional tasks (marital dissolution, probate, forming an LLC, etc.), each of which was then paired with a substantive CLE program. (Many of those programs are now part of our On-Demand library or posted at practicelaw.) We plan to continue to develop and improve mndocs in the 2018-19 bar year. If you’ve got ideas for new areas of focus—or if you’d like to help us on an upcoming project—send us an email at To learn more about upcoming programs and mndocs generally, visit
