Legal Counsel II/Associate General Counsel – Employment

This Legal Counsel II/Associate General Counsel provides valued legal counsel across Fairview Health Services’ businesses, staff functions and field locations with a primary focus in supporting Fairview’s labor and employment related matters, with a working knowledge of welfare and retirement benefit plans and programs. This role may also represent the organization at hearings or trials, conferences, meetings or functions and may negotiate with other attorneys/officials representing other organizations or agencies.

Required Education/Licensure
• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school with a strong academic record
• Admission to the Bar in state of MN allowing ability to practice in state (within 6 months of hire).

• At least 5 years of experience (5-9 years for Legal Counsel II, 10 or more years for Associate General Counsel) with a primary focus on employment and labor law issues as well as knowledge of employee benefits in a non-profit, healthcare setting or with related law firm experience. Preferably, both in-house experience and foundational training obtained in a reputable law firm that focused on healthcare transactional and regulatory areas.
• Pragmatic business-focused attorney who can work collaboratively to effectively manage legal risks.
• Ability and willingness to assist with other projects as assigned by Chief Legal Officer.
