Membership Recruitment Director

The Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA) is a voluntary statewide professional association for attorneys and other law-related professionals.  We are seeking an individual who can significantly contribute to our member recruitment efforts.  This is a regular full-time exempt position.  The successful candidate will help the MSBA continue to build its market share.  For more information about the MSBA’s programs and services, please visit our website www.mnbar.org.  The Minnesota State Bar Association is an equal opportunity employer.

Position Overview

The Membership Recruitment Director has overall responsibility for developing successful marketing strategies and implementing those strategies to recruit MSBA members.  The Membership Recruitment Director is expected to be knowledgeable about the reasons professionals join associations generally and the reasons lawyers join the MSBA specifically.

Primary Responsibilities
Recruitment & Member Service
  • Develop and implement promotional campaigns, project planning and execution.
  • Recruit attorneys, new admittees and law students to join and become engaged with the MSBA.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with district bar associations and sections by offering advice, consultation, and assistance regarding their marketing strategy.
  • Manage and improve ongoing communications programs to increase non-member awareness of the MSBA’s membership value proposition and increase membership.
  • Produce and supervise production of high-quality communications materials for non-members.
  • Respond to various non-member and member e-mails and phone calls, on a wide array of topics.
  • Understand the MSBA’s association management system and manage the quality of data on prospective members.
  • Assist with the annual dues billing process.
Research & Strategic Planning
  • Lead the development and execution of research, strategic plans and campaign/program execution through effective collaboration with other staff and volunteers.
  • Assist with and/or conduct non-member and member surveys.
  • Coordinate with the Membership Retention Director to create overall marketing and branding strategy.
  • Recommend ways to improve the effectiveness of marketing programs both in terms of audience appeal and efficiencies of internal processes.
  • Recommend recruitment goals to senior staff, and offer advice and training to the entire staff on the marketing implications of policy and programmatic issues.
  • Develop and manage a budget, review financial statements, and develop cost/benefits analysis.
Qualifications
  • Excellent customer service skills; ability to build customer relationships and make people feel welcome
  • Documented ability to achieve recruitment and project goals within budget and on schedule
  • Experience assessing the effectiveness of promotional strategies and materials
  • Skilled at collecting and analyzing data
  • Demonstrated ability to track details and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently or as a team to achieve goals
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Willingness to learn and take on new tasks
  • Positive attitude

The salary range for this position is up to $60,000.00/annually.
