Diversity and Inclusion Director

The Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA) is a voluntary statewide professional association of attorneys and other law-related professionals. We are seeking a Director of Diversity and Inclusion to lead our initiatives in the area of diversity and inclusion. The position focuses on advancing inclusion as a core institutional value and increasing diversity within the MSBA and its operations, as well as working with our affiliated bar associations to achieve outcomes that will improve the practice of law for diverse attorneys. This is a regular exempt full-time position. The Minnesota State Bar Association is an equal opportunity employer.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct MSBA diversity and inclusion initiatives; achieve goals set by the MSBA
  • Work with the Diversity & Inclusion Leadership Council and make recommendations to the MSBA Council regarding focus of MSBA’s work in the area of diversity and inclusion
  • Ensure MSBA policies and programs include consideration of diversity
  • Implement and monitor MSBA diversity-related policies
  • Monitor and update the diversity budget and budget narrative
  • Assist in organizing quarterly meetings of the affinity bar associations and publicizing  their events
  • Serve as liaison to the Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Council and Human Rights Committees; schedule meetings, assist in planning agenda, maintain committee member lists and committee files, update committee websites, and serve as a resource
  • Write and publicize annual MSBA diversity report
  • Develop and collaborate on diversity centered CLE programming which appeals to members and non-members alike

  • Proven leadership and organizational skills
  • Good judgment and ability to work independently
  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with various constituencies
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to provide quality member service
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to attend evening and weekend events
  • Ability to travel within Minnesota
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and online communication methods (specifically social media)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of national diversity initiatives, best practices and emerging research
  • Familiarity with Minnesota legal community
Salary Range

Up to $70,000/year (plus benefits)
