It was standing room only on February 2 at Robins Kaplan when the firm hosted a response-team attorney training for lawyers interested in serving people affected by President Trump’s January 27 Executive Order on immigrants and refugees. The training featured contributions from the Center for New Americans, the Minnesota ACLU, and the International Refugee Assistance Project. Regina Jeffries, who opened the program by reminding attendees that the issue was not about politics but rather the rule of law, trained the attorneys in the basics of providing legal assistance to individuals and family members affected by the executive order at the MSP airport. Ian Bratley of the Minnesota ACLU provided an overview of the current status of legal challenges to the executive order. Over 150 attorneys attended.
