In September the MSBA Assembly hosted a dynamic CLE entitled “Confronting Displacement Technology in the Legal Profession,” and later this month it will become available as part of our On-Demand CLE catalog. Legal futures expert Fred Ury, the keynote speaker, explained the breadth of new technologies and services that are displacing the traditional full-representation attorney-client model, ranging from artificial intelligence to Avvo. Also presenting were Bridget Gernander from the Judicial Branch, who explained new developments in self-help court services; Professor David Larson from Mitchell Hamline, who discussed the rise of online mediation in commercial and judicial settings, and Mary Kaczorek from Legal Services State Support, who made a presentation regarding Minnesota Legal Advice Online, an online legal advice forum for low-income Minnesotans.
