Assembly adopts task force recommendations 

On June 26, the MSBA Assembly approved all 15 of the recommendations contained in a pair of MSBA task force reports. Assembly members heard first from former Justices Helen Meyer and Sam Hanson, co-chairs of the Future of Legal Education Task Force.  The panel’s six recommendations addressed issues such as ensuring practice-ready graduates, more accessible and affordable legal education, whether to study the concept of limited license legal technicians (LLLTs). The nine recommendations from the Challenges to the Practice of Law Task Force, presented by Co-chairs Paul Floyd and Susan Minsberg, addressed matters of technology and resources for attorneys and the public, as well as lawyer mentoring. One recommendation is to seek a formal ethics opinion from the Lawyers Board on using the cloud for data storage; another is to explore creating a state-wide panel of attorneys to assist clients of modest means.
